Worldwide electricity generation rose 4% to 31,256 TWh in 2024, exceeding the decade-long average growth rate of 2.6% and more than double overall energy demand growth. Rising power needs from AI and cloud computing data centres – especially in the US and China – and a 25% jump in electric-vehicle sales also contributed.
